UCAT Preparation & Tutoring

Your 1-to-1 UCAT Tutor for UK Medical & Dental School Applicants

The UCAT (University Clinical Aptitude Test) is one of the first major hurdles standing between you and a UK medical or dental school offer — and for many applicants, it's also the most unpredictable. At Med Pathway Tutors, UCAT preparation is led personally by Dr. Kishan Manani, a qualified medical doctor and the founder of Med Pathway Tutors who sat the UCAT himself, secured offers from both St Andrews and Manchester, and has spent over six years helping other applicants prepare for it through structured, 1-to-1 UCAT tutoring.

What Is the UCAT and Why Does It Matter?

The UCAT is a computer-based admissions test used by the majority of UK medical and dental schools to help shortlist applicants before interview. As of the current test format, it’s made up of four sections — Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Reasoning and Situational Judgement — completed in just under two hours, with Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making and Quantitative Reasoning combining for a score out of 2,700 and Situational Judgement scored separately in bands.

Because so many universities use the UCAT to filter applicants before they even look at personal statements or predicted grades, a strong score can open doors that grades alone can’t — and a weak one can close them, regardless of how strong the rest of your application is. This is exactly why targeted, well-timed UCAT tutoring makes such a measurable difference.

Our Approach to UCAT Tutoring

Every student starts with a diagnostic assessment so we know exactly which sections need the most work — there’s no generic, one-size-fits-all course here. From there, sessions are built around:

  • Section-by-section strategy and timing technique, not just content revision
  • Weekly 1-to-1 coaching, adjusted as your practice scores develop
  • Full-length mock exams under real, timed conditions
  • Detailed feedback after every mock — what went wrong, and exactly how to fix it
  • Situational Judgement scenario training, which is often under-prepared for despite counting toward your overall profile

UCAT Online Tutoring: How Sessions Work

All UCAT tutoring is delivered online via video call with full screen-sharing, so we can work through questions together in real time — this works just as well for students in the UK as it does for international students preparing from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar or Kuwait. Sessions are scheduled flexibly around school timetables, and every student receives session notes and practice material to work through independently between meetings.

Who UCAT Tutoring Is For

  • Year 12 and Year 13 students preparing for their first UCAT sitting
  • Gap year applicants and students retaking the UCAT after a lower-than-expected score
  • International students applying to UK medicine or dentistry courses
  • Students who’ve tried self-study or a group course and want focused, 1-to-1 support instead

Real Results
